Adventure World’s newest water slide — ‘Kraken’ — was officially unveiled to the public today after many long months of anticipation for excited locals.

Kraken is a Tornado 60 model slide from Canadian water rides manufacturer ProSlide, and is the tallest, steepest and longest of its kind in the world.

Sitting at the peak of the park’s Alpine Mountain, the $7 million water slide features a lengthy 260-metre-long course that begins with a steep 30-metre-tall drop.

During the slide’s 30-metre decent, riders travel at speeds of up to 6.7 metres per second, before “dropping” into a giant 20-metre funnel.

Riders get a unique experience each and every time they ride Kraken, as the design of the slide enables the rafts to rotate freely throughout the ride — meaning that there is always somebody who is going to be falling backwards.

Utilising four-person rafts, the slide boasts an hour capacity of 600 guests per hour, hopefully eliminating long waits during those hot summer months.
