Aussie World to open permanent haunt maze

In the lead up to Aussie World’s annual Halloween event — FestEvil — the park has revealed that it will debut a new year-round permanent haunt maze, dubbed Mayhem Maze.

Situated on the hill beside the iconic Ballroom Blitz, the haunt maze will be elaborately themed to a double storey, abandoned warehouse that was part of a once thriving 1950s carnival.

The new haunt maze will feature more than a dozen actors when it launches during the first night of the park’s FestEvil event, although it is not known whether the attraction will be manned during quieter periods.

To complete the horrifying experience, the maze will feature extensive props, sounds, smells, special effects and hidden chambers throughout its nine themed rooms.

Aussie World Chief Operating Officer, Aaron Flanagan, said it had been a long-held desire for the owners to create a permanent scare attraction at the popular Sunshine Coast theme park.

“After seeing other parks around Australia and overseas enjoying great success with horror mazes, it was decided that now was a great time to invest and add even more depth to the entertainment offering within our park,” Mr Flanagan said.

“Aussie World is continually looking for new and exciting ways to expand our park and this maze is a thrilling new direction for us. In addition to the Mayhem Maze, two other brand new family rides are set to open this year, making Aussie World the must-do destination this Summer.”
